A day in Oaxaca

I woke up thinking oh God, today is 31st of December and I haven’t even finished posting on 2016!

So here I go with Oaxaca, if you have a full day there, this is what I would recommend you to do.

First, forget about the Monte Alban ruins if you already have been to others in Mexico or Guatemala. Teotihuacan, Tikal, Tonina, Palenque, all of these are way more spectacular.

So with my new travel companion, we decided to visit the area by ourselves and went to Hierve el Agua.

The first time I had come to Oaxaca, years ago, I had missed it. And now that I have been there, I just can’t imagine how I did that! This site is one of the most memorable natural places I have been to. Truly unique. Go by yourself so that you can spend as much time as you want there. It’s easy, cheap and fun.

You can stop en-route to Mezcalerias if you want to try local mescal. We did not do it as we were a bit in a rush, wanting to go to many places.

Time to go back to the city.

Spend a few hours to wander through Oaxaca colonial streets and my favorite place in the city, yes a bit cliché but I can’t help it: Templo de Santo Domingo.

Finish the day with a glass of wine or a mezcal on one of the rooftop with a view on the Templo!
